In 2009, while he was still filming the series El Internado, Yon González had a role in a 20 something cult film called "Mentiras y Gordas" also known as "Sex, Party, and Lies" or "Lies and Fat Girls". The film didn't get too much critical recognition but was a box office hit and generated a following from young audiences and the gay community.
The film follows the lives of eight friends over a three day span where the friends have sex, take drugs and drink in Alicante. As each day and night unfolds, secrets are revealed and lives are changed for the better or for the worse. This film shows the party lives of teenagers with a dramatic event at the end. Yon plays "Nico", a young 20-something who unbeknownst to him, is the love interest of his best friend, "Toni" played by Mario Casas. Both Mario and Yon's portrayal of two best friends, one with a secret, were so controversial, that to this day, Yon is asked about this role in interviews. He has said that this role, where he was shown completely naked, was not very well negotiated and while he learned from the experience, he would prefer not to talk about it at every interview. He also says, that now, he would do nude scenes but only if they are justified.
Regardless, the film won Yon a huge following in the gay community and he says, that while he is not gay himself, he appreciates their interest in him.
