The actor is back with Bajo Sospecha, the new season premiere did great on Antena3.
“On SMS and El Internado I was naked all the time. After ten years in this profession, I have finally earned my shirt.”

His return to the small screen couldn’t have gone better: the start of the second season of Bajo Sospecha on Antena3 was well received an had more than 3.2 viewers, beating a titan like VIP Big Brother. However, Yon González (29) also celebrates that he no longer has to show his flesh at work, something that he has achieved after ten years in this profession and after rejecting numerous projects. He tells us, LOC, that he also plans to become very fit in the next upcoming months.

Q- Bajo Sospecha is now set in a hospital. How does it feel to wear a nurse's uniform?
A- Very funny. It is also very comfortable, really. It's like pajamas, so working in it is super nice.

Q- Do you look sexy in your uniform?
A- [Snorts] I don’t care. [laughs].

Q- How about being surrounded by doctors? Are you a hypochondriac?
A- No, no. Otherwise, it’d be hard to work [laughs].

Q- Blanca Romero is no longer on the series, although during the first season, it was announced that you and she would be the only recurring characters in Bajo Sospecha. Do you miss her?
A- Well, of course I miss her.

Q- What did you think of the statements of your former partner? Blanca says she just has bad luck.
A- I don’t know... I do my job because that's what they hired me for. In the end, these are decisions that have nothing to do with me. I don’t know the reasons.

Q- Do you think she could have continued to be on the show?
A- This season? It depends on what you want to tell and how you want to tell it. Being as it is this new season, no, she couldn’t have. Partly because her character is now played by the French guy, the infiltrated police. But they didn’t change Blanca for Olivia Molina, although I will have some romantic scenes with her.

Q- So we will see your character in love?
A- Victor is not very romantic.

Q- In real life, are you also not very romantic or just the opposite?
A- Well, I am.

Q- How about the new cast, with actors such as Concha Velasco and Gonzalo de Castro?
A- It's wonderful, wonderful. These partners make it very easy, and it takes very little effort on my part to have good scenes with them. Very good, to be honest.

Q- In addition to Bajo Sospecha, you will also be in a new series: La Catedral del Mar.
A- We begin recording on March 7. I have to get stronger, fitter, physically change. Not that they have asked me to, but if you read the novel, which is amazing, you see that the protagonist is a strong guy. From the ages of 12 to 22, he carries rocks to build the cathedral and from then until he is 30, they turn him into a soldier, so I can’t look this skinny.

Q- How is the gym then?
A- I haven’t started yet. I don’t have time. I leave work at ten o'clock and come home and have to study. When would I go to the gym? at two in the morning? [laughs]

Q- There is also another film in sight: the sequel of Perdiendo el Norte.
A- This week I heard from a colleague that the second part is being filmed. I don’t think I’m in it because they haven’t told me anything. I have no idea.

Q- This year you celebrate ten years of acting career. What is your assessment?
A- Very good and I hope it continues to be this good. The truth is that I've exceeded my expectations. To be able to make two series as the main character is awesome. I am very pleased and happy that Antena3 is also happy and keep counting me in, because La Catedral del Mar will also air on that channel. When I finish recording, I'll have the summer for myself.

Q- Do you have any plans for that long break? The last time you had a few months off, you traveled.
A- Yes, I'll go and do some snowboarding, kite surfing and just enjoy nature.

Q- In these ten years of acting career, has your relationship with your fans changed much? Since they have also grown up, do you get to live a quieter life now?
A- Yes, because I don’t go out [laughs]. Now I think they are more respectful towards me and my job. However the perception people have towards this job sucks, because countless people have given me a pat on the back saying, “what a cool life, working on TV, earning money like crazy and doing nothing!” One does not even want to waste saliva to explain that. And in general that is what people think about us.

Q- But you can tell they have more respect for you?
A- Before there used to be no filters. Now people that come up to me are more shy, it's not like when people saw me shirtless on television.

Q- In your case, you no longer play roles where you have to remove your shirt.
A- That stage has passed. Now I look for something more interesting. I’ve worked with Bambu productions on Gran Hotel and Bajo Sospecha, that’s one thing. And with Globomedia, come on... On SMS and El Internado I was naked all the time. After ten years in this profession, I think I have earned my shirt. Selling can also be done differently and this seems to work, right? So I’ll keep doing this.

Q- The truth is that your roles now are more adult, something that actors your age do not normally do. Was it difficult to start getting those roles?
A- Of course. I have had to give up many roles. A career is more based on the no’s than on the yes's. I’m lucky enough to be able to say "no", but this is not common. Some people accept jobs because they have to feed their children. I don’t have children, so I can choose.
